Volkswagen’s Golf VI, the company’s staple foodstuff, is out again on public roads doing extensive testing sessions. Risk-averse VW is once again counting on the Golf, which is expected on some showroom floors as early as later this year, to light up the sales crackers. Since 1974 the name Golf has meant many different things to many people. As the original people’s hatchback, Golf carries with it certain expectations with each new model.

Such expectations are rife with the Golf VI as the name is now as synonymous with VW as the old Beetle was. As delivery is important, the car will feature a number of new innovations, including BlueMotion technology and possibly a hybrid for the American market. A 7-speed DSG ‘box is certain on upper models such as the GTI and R 32.
Mark Lichter’s Golf V study has been extensively revised under the eye of Walter de Silva to draw even cleaner, smoother lines.

A whole array of engines should whet people’s appetites, beginning with the 1.4 TSI right up to a possible R 36 model. We hope VW’s unofficial policy of placing a premium on their vehicles will disappear with the reappearance of the Golf VI. This will go a long way towards re-establishing the model as a popular, everyman’s car.

Boring boring Golf. It will sell a lot, drive well, look mediocre, have a mediocre interior and will have umpteen spin offs. NEXT.

lol we are talking about the golf(!)and not about a new maserati or whatsoever... the customers love that car, because its unobtrusive... not everbody has to demonstrate his power with driving a ultra mean looking car...

ZOMG its the bomb cause its german!!

hehe, kidding aside. I like golf's they are small efficient, clean looking, cheap(ish), cars that aren't all obsessed with looking "cool" and "stylish". Fiat 500 I be talking bout you.

I'm 100% sure that this is not the new VW Golf VI but the all new 2008 VW Polo. This new Polo has almost the same dimentions as the Golf V. I have already seen the 2008 Polo, so that's why I am sure! This Polo comes in the dealership by July 2008 and the Volkswagen Golf VI comes in 2009.

As SAKA says, it's more a Polo than a Golf. By the way, look at 00:35 and you will see a REAL car.

Hmmm.... I hope they don't go all crazy in the design room. Because the golf V was not all that good looking to me.

It looks like a fiat stilo (here you can see one: http://www.evo.co.uk/images/front_picture_library_UK/dir_28/car_photo_14262_7.jpg)

Seems like VW is not really innovating here. All the technical stuff remains the same. Just a little touch-up of the exterior.

Did you hear that engine? It indeed is a diesel, probably the same old 1.9Tdi which is old old old. Hey volkswagen, did you know they invented common rail diesel?

All in all: this is a dissapointing car.

And if it is the new Polo as commented before than VW has really gone insane. No european would buy a Golf any more if this is the new polo.

It's like a mix between the beetle, focus, and CR-V. Am glad I bought the MKV instead of waiting around for this.
