Alfa Romeo Releases Video of 8C Spider in Motion

Expect Prices Around Â£ 125 K

Topless pictures are always exciting, but videos tend to be more popular. If you think we are talking about women (we could also be doing it, but not here and not now), think again. This sentence suits perfectly well the new Alfa Romeo 8C Spider. We have already shown you all technical specs, gorgeous pictures and even the presentation video at the Geneva Motor Show, but those who have watched this presentation may have noticed that, on the background, a nice footage video, with the coupe and the spider, was being shown. Alfa Romeo took a while to release it, but here it is.

Besides the nice images, which show a road meeting of the two versions of the 8C in a wonderful scenery, thereâ€™s something else that might be of interest, both to ownership candidates and to World Car Fans in general: price tips. Magazines that have already had the chance to drive the car speculate the Spider will cost something above US$ 200,000, or between Â£ 120,000 and Â£ 130,000.

This high price tag is due to exclusivity and, of course, to what the car can do. First of all, only 500 Spider units will be built. Last, but not least, its body is made of carbon fibre and powered by a 450 bhp (at 7,000 rpm) V8 4.7-litre engine, the same one used for the coupe. Since these are the vehicles Alfa Romeo has chosen to get back to the most important car market in the world, the USA, they could present nothing below these standards.

That is the only way I know how to describe it. I just really don't like those two lights and how far apart they are spaced. The rest of the car is amazing, and if it were priced in at $40,000-$50,000 it would be easy to overlook the tail lights. But no, over $200,000+ for that? Also if you are going to criticize me for sounding like I am 12, try not to spell you as u 3 times in the same message.

the funny thing is i can actually talk like that and use "u" a million times in a sentance because i'm only 17 bud lol not 20 and a little more matured?? seriously now... even gugas below agrees with me... u compared an alfa to a FACE with EYES SPREAD apart and u even had the nerve to compare it to an RX-8... like WHERE do u get this rx-8 from??? and also thankyou to m555david for pointing that out too about the GT Alfa 6c 3000!!

I live in Canada, I never really liked any alpha romeo designs up till now so I never did bother to look into specs, or anything. My opinion is comparable to someone in North America taking a glance at the car driving past. The design of the car is nice, but nothing about it's design would suggest it has a Ferrari engine, or that its a carbon fiber beast. That is how I could compare it to a rx8, or say that I expected it to cost around $40,000. Seriously, if a Allard J2X MKII drove past you, would you know it's name or that it has either anything from a 6 liter hemi to a Cadillac Northstar engine in it? No you probably wouldn't on the basis that you have about as much insight into that car, as I do this one.

funny... i live in canada too lol 1. why would it WANT to suggest that it has a ferrari engine? or even the design came from ferrari? i rather have it be unique than a follower of another car company (even if it IS from ferrari itself) 2. i still think ur on crack for comparing an alfa with a mazda... 3. we all know the ownerships of cars and the companys... we dont need extra designs to tell us that another car company OWNS the car i'm driving lol 4. L shaped rear lights would NOT look good :P (juts saw ur renderings) damn just go buy an RX-8 dude :P

1. For a design to suggest it has a really potent engine behind it, it doesn't have to look like a Ferrari. 2. Something more aggressive is needed. My picture may have only taken 10 minutes to draw, but I feel it gets the point across that the stock rear tail lights could look better. Back to the price, at $250,000 you are buying a car that would cost $150,000 to make, and the left over $100,000 is paying for the logo. Ditch the brand name recognition, and swap in an equivalently spec'd engine and you got yourself the exact same car for $100,000. As a bonus, the car would be more reliable and cheaper to fix.

it is forgiving for everyone who is not familiar with alfa history specifically with them paying respect to their heritage and the most stunning cars that were ever created. This car is a simply put a remake of a successful formula for a super fast GT Alfa 6C 3000, which was extremely popular and rare indeed

and as you have probably noticed the retro theme throughout the design of Alfa, i don't think your overly futuristic rendering can play along with paying respect to the PAST, not the future. not yet at least

I don't agree on our 20 year old joe limon here about how the rear is a bit far apart....but i will say that the rear really doesn't do the front any justice...the front of this car is just so expressive and does it with such ease. Not that the rear isn't pretty, i was really hoping for something a little more imaginative...front says "i'm sexy", but back says,"i'm a dork..." however....i have met sexy dorks in my time...
