Having already seen the exterior in the initial teaser photos and video, all that was left was to see the interior of the all new Opel/Vauxhall Insigni and now General Motors has now duly responded with these first images. Not known for their inspiring cockpit designs, we weren't expecting anything different from the new model, but these photos has given us a pleasant surprise.

“This is a paradigm shift for Vauxhall,” says John Puskar, Executive Director of Interior Design at GM Europe. “We wanted to create interior environments for all our future vehicles that are warm, inviting and sporty. The Insignia is the first evidence of this philosophy.”

“Every detail was meticulously thought through,” says Jochen Werner, Insignia’s Assistant Chief Interior Designer. “We even tipped the infotainment centre at a 30 degree angle to allow the centre console to flow and give the car’s cabin a greater feeling of spaciousness.”

The Insignia will debut at the London Motor Show in July.

give me a break! this car is definitely not ugly. i do however think that there are some features in the design that are not very well resolved. the front end looks too fat, especially with the front bumper. the headlights are just not sleek enough for the shape of the car. there is just too much visual expanse in its profile which accentuates its heavy look. its only the glass house and the rear of the car that makes it look sleek. put it this way its going to sell very well, and its infinitely better looking than its uk rival the mondeo which could have been launched 5 years ago and still looked dated.

Yeah, Babymilo, Notay and Zix were all kicked out from Opel Design Centre with some other guys around here, that's why they just hate everything that bears GM logo :)
