Gordon Murray Announces new City Car
Working on models such as the Mclaren F1 and Caparo T1 would leave most all hot and flustered, there are times you need to take a break and focus on the simpler things in life. Ok, so this would be a bit far fetched, there are few of us who would ever want to steer away from the supercar sector, but in the case of Gordon Murray, it appears to be exactly the case. One year after setting up Gordon Murray Design, he has announced the first details of the new T.25 city car which is being designed with focus drawn towards low emissions and low weight.
The new city car's total dry weigh will be just under 1000kg, and the length of the vehicle will be similar to the average width of a B or C segment model, this potentially allows up to three vehicles to park in a single parking bay. Murray has stopped short of providing the precise mechanical details of the vehicle, but he describes it as an MPV which could eventually spawn up to 14 different body styles.
Target price is just £5,000 which he claims will be fully recuperated by the owner within four years because of the cheap running costs. The project has been in development for 12 months now and we are likely to see the first preview of the model sometime in 2009.
