NICE Unveils Super Light Electric Concept at BIMS
With three world debuts and two concepts, British electric-vehicle company NICE has made its presence felt at this year’s British International Motor Show. Proclaiming electric vehicles have won the technology war, NICE presents us with the a research project named, Super Light Electric (SLE) concept.
Developed in partnership with Cranfield’s Power and Drive Systems group, based in Shrivenham UK, the SLE concept is designed around a tough carbon fibre cell which increases occupant protection and maximises resistance to stress and impact. In place of traditional mechanical assemblies, electro-magnetic and electronics reside resulting in a vehicle that weighs less than 400kg including batteries and has a range of more than 100 miles.
Although not a production car, the SLE concept demonstrates how electric vehicle technology could pave the way for more advanced systems. From today's EV generators and lithium-ion batteries to more advanced electro-magnetics and possibly anti-gravity propulsion beyond tomorrow. Of course a bit far fetched, but it all starts here.
