VIDEO: Rolls Royce RR4 Prototype Caught in Dubai

Following the recent launch of the Phantom Coupe in Abu Dhabi, loyal WCF readers have caught the baby RR4 lurking on the roads of Dubai. It was back in May of this year Rolls Royce officially announced the RR4 with a couple of teasers sketches and just over a month ago since our last spy photos.

Despite receiving the chassis and componentry from the F01 long wheel base BMW 7-Series, the RR4 is said to feature it's own exclusive engine. However, it is believed the engine will just be a variant of existing BMW engines such as a slightly higher displacement version of BMW's 407hp twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 already seen in the X6 or an uprated version of BMW's 6.0-litre V12 in the current 760i.

The diminutive ultra-luxury Roller is scheduled for a 2010 launch. We expect RR4 prototypes to gradually shed their camouflage over the course of 2009.

is it going to be an overpriced 7 series ? where will it slot in the bmw's group production line ? between 7 series and a phantom ?

its going to be the same thing as the phaeton/continental in VW family. So 7-series would be basically the same car, with a lot lower pricetag.

Do you really perceive the Phaeton and Continental Silver Spur to be the same car Kimbo? They share common components, but if that is a common perception it seems to have done little to convince people the Phaeton is an underpriced Bentley or the Conti an overpriced Phaeton: the Bentley outsell Phaetons by many magnitudes.

You should really learn a thing about the Phaeton/Continental thing.

The Continentals made for the USA and UK are produced in the UK. Just to make customers happy.

But Continentals (for rest of the world) and Phaetons are made in a glass factory in Dresden. Their chassis is the same; same air suspension, brakes, etc. Engine is exactly the same when it comes to the W12 6.0l which has added turbos in the Continental. Even electronic systems and soundproofing materials are the same, not to mention that they are built on the same production line. Simply, the D2 platform was developed for both Bentley and the Phaeton.

The Phaeton and Continetal Flying Spur are simply the same car, with different body panels and some minor technical features.

And bristol, it's not silver spur, but a flying spur...
