Three years after its debut at the Geneva motor show, Spyker will begin producing the D12 Peking to Paris SUV next year.

Power comes from Volkswagen's W12 engine but Spyker failed to provide performance specifications for their application of the engine. However the company did state that the engine will allow the D12 to run from 0-60 mph in 5 seconds flat and reach a top speed of 185 mph.

Even in an era where the SUV has passed its prime and with a global financial crisis in full swing, Spyker says demand remains high for the £186,000 D12. In fact demand is expected to be so high that the new D12 will be built on a production line instead of being hand built like previous Spykers.

Why does it look uglier than 5 months ago! It looks ugly on the main picture? why is that?

by audinick | November 3, 2008 10:28 PM
Could it be simply because it's fugly as hell?

by deliverinsanity | November 3, 2008 10:31 PM
I think it looks amazing from certain angles and others not so much. Spyker is a showcase of art in stainless steel. Just simply gorgeous workmanship.

by radmeister | November 3, 2008 10:43 PM

by audinick | November 3, 2008 10:45 PM

by eas722 | November 3, 2008 11:44 PM
What a fatass. If I was wanted to show the picture of ugliness, I would show that spyker.

by mechamynd | November 3, 2008 11:53 PM
wow, this thing makes the cayenne look appealing...

by malhaar | November 3, 2008 11:57 PM
Who gives a damn that it doesnt follow the usual lines of your RR Sport or X5. I would give all that up for the exclusivity of it! Its so different and fresh! Just look at that INTERIOR!!! Thats what your're gonna be looking at when you drive it, right!? Good job Spyker!

by TSLi | November 4, 2008 12:11 AM
Haha, this is so ugly it's funny :-D

by MonkeyX | November 4, 2008 12:14 AM
Probably the ultimate attention getter du jour though you'd have to say, imagine pulling up at a Greenpeace & Habitat for humanity fundraiser in that. You'd certainly be able to make use of the 0-60 time!

by Airbag | November 4, 2008 12:16 AM
So uglier than a BMW X6 really exists, who would have thought.

by Get_Real | November 4, 2008 12:18 AM
haha.. indeed. good one. this is one fu@#ing ugly car.

by loki | November 4, 2008 1:02 AM
Holly crap even Porsche designers are not that lazy! They simply got a regular Spyker and squished it to an SUV.

by Murcielago2006 | November 4, 2008 12:32 AM
my respect has just been crushed for this car manufacturer.... **sob** i really liked the spyker roadster :( this is an abomination to this company and the world. also, it looks like a bubble on wheels...

by effington | November 4, 2008 1:10 AM
I kind of like it... FOR ME TO POOP ON!!

What the hell, Spyker! Epic fail.

This is, quite simply, an abomination. It is not just speaking the same design language as the elegant C8, it is also wearing the C8's lingerie and gowns, dressing up and dancing in front of the mirror while alone in its room. It is pathetic! Regulars to WCF know I am strongly anti-SUV, but, more importantly, I'm anti-stupidity... which is what this is.

The interior isn't worth all the acclaim it is about to get, either. There is (quite literally) scaffolding in the middle, and the centre console is done in a similar fashion to the metal-topped counters you would find in my garage, with screws as inconspicuous as a slap in the face. Same goes for the panels covering the sides of the front seats; noticeable fasteners. There is nothing refined about being able to see fasteners. Completely unacceptable.

I love the detail Spyker put into their vehicles. They are exceptional in the automotive world, maybe not necessarily for their craftsmanship, but for the discernible feeling of craftsmanship their vehicles imbue. This fits that ticket, but fails hard, nonetheless.

HAHAHHA I just wanted to see how everybody would react on my comment! I drive an A5 2.0 TFSI-VALVETRONIC QUATTRO! And in stock form it really is about 250 BHP! I changed the whole exhaust system! I changed the MOTRONIC cpu! I changed the WHEELS! NOW I have this: 250 BHP at the wheels: 18 inch magnesium OZ wheels and digitpower ecu!

by audinick | November 4, 2008 2:29 AM
THIS car is out of this world ! the torque and horsepower overlap each other! So you are never left in the HOLE!

by audinick | November 4, 2008 2:30 AM
AND LAST : I am from BULGARIA! SO I over tuned the A5 to have JAMEX suspension!

by audinick | November 4, 2008 2:32 AM
THE 1/4 mile stands at 13.5 secs right now! but the revs go up to 7.500!

by audinick | November 4, 2008 2:33 AM
MY site is www.skl-consult.com soon i will publish pictures!

by audinick | November 4, 2008 2:34 AM
Oh please do shut up. No one is interested in your imaginary A5.

by Kepe | November 4, 2008 5:26 AM
someone call the design police

by AOS | November 4, 2008 4:27 AM

IT'S FUGLY.

And audinick, stop the crap kthx.

by Lekz | November 4, 2008 5:17 AM
When cars like these start hitting the road, we must really consider the children. This abomination to mankind must never get into the hands of soccer moms. Otherwise, it is time for holy war.

by PotatoEater | November 4, 2008 6:05 AM
Here's the thing ALL OF YOU are missing-- you pull up ANYWHERE with one of those, it'll make that Gallardo next to it invisible. That's what Spyker is all about. Pull up next to any Cayenne Turbo S or X6 or similar fashion SUV, this thing gets more looks than all of them. Suicide doors! Q-cinture leather! Panoramic moonroof! CMON! It's not about looking pretty, it's about looking 1 in 1,000,000. That's Spyker.

by wickedated | November 4, 2008 7:44 AM
If I had arms for legs and vice versa, eyes on the back of my head and hair that looked like it's about to live and I stood next to Jessica Alba, who is gonna look invisible?

Just cause something is rare doesn't justify its absurdity..

by Decypha | November 4, 2008 7:59 AM
no no no.... I live in LA where every douche in this city has a Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati, or Porsche. It's really hard to stand out in this city but I would rather stand out by having a r34 skyline or even having an old beater F250 that's jacked up than have this monstrosity of a vehicle.

by bman49 | November 4, 2008 8:24 AM
caughuglycaugh

by BabyMilo | November 4, 2008 9:56 AM
Oh dear, it's so ugly it made my children cry...

by mightywhelk | November 4, 2008 11:05 AM
ide rather move cities than drive this... THING! haha

by effington | November 4, 2008 11:13 AM
in relation to bman49's comment

by effington | November 4, 2008 11:16 AM
Rip the interior and place it in the X6 and we can talk.
