Tough times call for new gimics. Getting customers into showrooms has become more difficult amidst looming global recession, but BMW has a new tool that could persuade the early adopters amongst us.

Introducing the BMW Product Navigator, an interactive computer screen that uses Microsoft Surface, a multi-touch interface that allows a user or multiple users to manipulate digital content by using hand movements instead of a mouse or keyboard. The Product Navigator allows prospective BMW customers to configure their new car with different colors, wheels, and interior trim by placing samples on the screen surface. Once complete, the customer can view videos of their model as well as 360-degree views inside and out.

BMW is the first car manufacturer worldwide using this technology commercially. Check out the video to see how it works.

Does the one on their website give you 360 degrees? Isn't this new system more better in the sense that it gives you a more realistic feel of picture of what the real car will be?

BMW go for it.

Yeah. More toy for us to play with, while we are driving. Make thing more complicated. That is why a lot of BMW car owner have car accident, because they are too busy playing around with the BMW's un-friendly Hi-Tech stuff.
