Mercedes E-Class Estate/ Wagon Spied

We are all expecting the new 2010 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Estate to debut for public viewing at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2009, along with its coupe variant. The sedan would have been first shown in Geneva before that. As for today we can have a glance at these spy shots of the 2010 E-Class which show a bit less of that camo. For the first time we can see the car's true, undisguised rear lights.

Mercedes is going the current trend of round-edged rectangular tailpipes it seems. The roofline appears more as well, as well as more rear end. The E-Class Estate grows in length and width, meaning more space, especially rear space. An improved AIRMATIC suspension is to be offered, and possibly the still-being-developed myCOMAND vehicle-to- vehicle communication system.

It will share the same engines as its sedan sibling, namely petrol and diesel, turbocharged and naturally aspirated. Possibly a hybrid will make its way into the lineup. No Mercedes-Benz range is complete without a powerful AMG version whose power figures decimate those of its opposition, so wait for this one to enter the market.

Something strange happening with that rear fender,why isn't the swage line continued at all?Anyone willing to hazard a guess at what they're still hiding?I'm thinking something with the glass.And besides,the E-Class sedan and wagon will never be anything to get excited about,look at the last generation.They will be made,and you will buy them.It's inevitable.It's an E-Class.

It's disguised with lumpy black tape. If you look closely you can see where that silly arched swage line goes into the taillamp, and you can make out the greenhouse shape pretty clearly.

Completely obvious is the ridiculous placement of the rear door handles about 8 inches from the rear edge of the door. C-Class has same issue, and you can't open the rear doors without hitting your arm with the door. I don't get how they made such a silly design error, or why the handle needs to be so far forward.

IMHO, the wagon looks better (and more like an E-Class, less like a 4yo US Accord) than the sedan.
