Just yesterday we reported on a covertly acquired image of the all new 2010 BMW Z4 taken on a movie set and not a dealership as originally reported. And now, what appears to be a photo of the Z4 brochure has spilled its way onto the web as well, this time showing a rear end view and folding hard top roof.

Word on the cyber street is that the new Z4 makes its media debut on December 15 with a possible public debut at the Detroit Auto Show in January.

Despite the somehwat distorted view of the image, the overall rear end design looks promising. Let us know what you think in your comments below, compared to yesterday's front side image.

Seems like it's gonna be a hardtop convertible or straight out as a coupe. Anyways it looks much better than the current Z4. Hope it gets something powerful under the hood.

I like it and not just the rear but the whole car. Looking forward to seeiing proper images as this and yesterday's blurred front shot aren't great quality. The 3l from the 335 would be fantastic in this Z4.

Honestly, its much better than I thought it would be. Rear lights look similar to the M6, which is nice.

by Murcielago2006 | December 5, 2008 2:27 AM
now thats more like it. looks hot

Looks Great!!

by ccrispy | December 5, 2008 4:33 AM
Looks like BMW is still working hard to de-Bangle their designs in the hopes that no one will remember their great mistake in design.

by sensei | December 5, 2008 4:54 AM
I don't know but looks a bit like Panamera in the back. Hope is has more room inside couse at 6'4" I only have enough room with the top down.

by out4ride | December 5, 2008 5:01 AM
ha amen brother! 6"3, i tried to get in one with the roof up. no go. =( still, this one looks fiiiine

by Lucifa | December 5, 2008 6:32 AM
6ft5 - never had a problem. Adjust the seat.

by stillthewhizz | December 5, 2008 11:47 AM
most of your height is probably in leg length, which the z4 is fine for - if you've got a tall body then you've got a problem

by Lucifa | December 5, 2008 1:11 PM
now we're talking!

by LP560_4 | December 5, 2008 6:39 AM
looks better than the front end

by BabyMilo | December 5, 2008 6:56 AM
ya ha haa ! after that heated issue regarding the Panamera's hideous rear , seemed like auto manufacturers are now giving that car section a more thorough analysis , hey ? my answer here is a resounding YESSS , the BMW Z4s rear looks SUPERB along with the rest of the car . perhaps designers from Zuffenhausen ought to take a crash course in Automotive Butt-tology over at BMW Technik for a change . better still , re-consult the design talents of Tony Hatter/Tony Lapine to aesthetically set things right once more .

by THERENAISSANCEMAN | December 5, 2008 8:05 AM
I do hope the M3's V8 makes it into that car, that would be a treat.

I hope it isn't too porky.

by Airbag | December 5, 2008 8:06 AM
Wow car! Lets put it in German for mr. Reithoffer and his company: "Nicht schlecht überhaupt".

by alessandro | December 5, 2008 10:01 AM
It's just one of those cars that the rear looks better than the front....

by Tuner_Mad | December 5, 2008 10:10 AM
I take my hat off to all the dudes that trashed this car yesterday. I do agree this is a much better car than the one i saw yesterday - i am one of the few that held station. This is good, really GOOD!!!

by Wisp | December 5, 2008 10:49 AM
It's miles better than the previous generation which had a totally hideous rear.

by afterace2 | December 5, 2008 11:03 AM
I used to be a BMW fan until someone let Mr. Bangle loose with some crayons. Then I went completely off them. The previous BMW Z4 and 7 Series were both hideous. I'm not a fan of the 5 series either. The front lights are all wrong. They look like the got pinched on the sides of the car. So, In short I hope Bangle is slowly but permanently removed from any sort of design projects so we can get back to driving decent looking cars. P.S. X5, X6 and new Z4 - Thumbs up.

Looks like a great photo leak. New styling is fantastic in BMW, beats their boring design language of yesteryear of slab sides, and bad interiors.

Since the introduction of the flame surfacing and design language by Chris Bangle, BMW has bought some much needed new customers in to their mix and bought some excitement that gets people talking about their cars.

Can't wait to see it in the metal.

by mickhoog | December 5, 2008 1:06 PM
Are you serious? Boring BMW of yesteryear? And you are actually praising Chris Bangle?!!! BMWs of yester-year, before the rape of BMW when Bangle came onboard, BMW was doing very well. It had very beautiful designs, sporty saloon styling, and the interiors were designed with the driver in mind. Not to mention the cars were lightweight and FAST!!!

Today's BMWs are pieces of crap, ever since that Bangle fool came to BMW. The 1 series I will hand to him. This Z4 looks nice too. But a lot of the crap, like the current 3 series (including the new M3) and 5 series are horrid to say the least. That bangle butt on the 5 and 7 series is worthless and a very dumb idea. The 3 series are not only much longer and heavier and hideous, they look boring! Same with the 5 and 7 series. The exterior looks absolutely boring. The interior is a close second.

by nurchus | December 5, 2008 3:22 PM
interesting you say the bimmers of yesteryear were fast, implying that the bimmers of today are slow. well, all of their cars have gotten faster, in fact the e90 M3 is faster than the e46 m3 CSL, so that's not quite correct. i'd also like to point out that bmw's sales have kept increasing over the past few years, despite what you clearly think of bangle. so i'll agree with wisp here, facts are what make a structured argument, not a raft of insults.

by Lucifa | December 5, 2008 4:38 PM
Nurchus, go lie to your foot man. That's a whole load of butt lies you've just told us man. First of all the new M3 is a very good racey looking car. The Coupe looks stunning and confident. Second of all the E46 3 series is a much heavier car than the E90 3 series. Just go to any BMW dealership and pick up the two bolts they have of the E46 and E90 (new light weight material notice the difference in the two immediately. This weight differnce goes further by making the new 3 series alot more fuel efficient than the E46. I know so coz i have owned both cars and i can tell you that i used to cover 500km to 600km on a full tank on a long trip at speeds in the range atr high speeds of 160km to 235Km flactuating with the E46 325Ci. You can now cover approximately 700km to 800km of the same distance and higher speed in the current 3 series E90 325i.

Go check the facts first broer before pulling the "freedom of speech" card.

by Wisp | December 5, 2008 4:03 PM
Is that a fact? I am lying? About what? The truth? And what freedom of speech card are you talking about?

BMWs of the yesteryears were far more impressive than today's pile of junk designed by a worthless yank from Wasteconsin.

And the new e90 M3 is faster than the e46??? That is funny, because last time I checked, the Cadillac and Corvette demolished that car without a sweat. YANK CARS!!! The e46 CSL was a bloody good car and definitely designed for the driver in mind. I have no idea how a much lighter car as the e46 CSL can be trounced by a pregnant guppy of a car like the e90. So I will pass that word on as conjecture on your behalf, mate.

I lease a bloody '07 BMW 328i just to see what justification I can find for the car to call it a Bimmer. It is much heavier than the yesteryear 3 series, it is much longer, definitely slower, and worse yet, I HAVE TO DISABLE that horrid Dynamic Traction Control on the worthless junk in order to drive through the rain and get home safely!

I am not trashing this Z4 as it is definitely a step in the right direction. To de-Bangle any of BMW's current lineup would be the best move BMW could ever do. It will definitely make me a BMW fan again. Thankfully my lease is up this July 31st. I cannot wait to dump this junk in their lot and possibly pick up (lease) a Cayman RS. At least Porsche is a car I can count on that delivers the fun and excitement that the Germans are known to produce. However, if this Z4 comes out by the time my lease is up, I will definitely pick this one up.

by nurchus | December 5, 2008 5:45 PM
Hello.

nurchus, did you get run over as a child by a BMW driver or something? So much hatred for a car manufacturer can't be healthy.

I particularly like your arguement, "And the new e90 M3 is faster than the e46??? That is funny, because last time I checked, the Cadillac and Corvette demolished that car without a sweat. YANK CARS!!!" I dont mean to state the obvious but you completely avoided the question by answering one nobody asked. Yes the E90 M3 is faster than the E46, is what you should've said.

Quick question for you though, how can you compare a Corvette to a 4 seater M3? Do you actually believe what you type? If you are talking about Bangle, then why exactly are you mentioning the cars' performance? He has nothing to do with that.

Read a few motoring journalists' views on recent M cars against their actual competition (not Corvettes) and you will be plesantly surprised.

by TSLi | December 5, 2008 6:46 PM
i dont think this the final thing, or the actual brochure of it. check out the wheels on the pic. theyre totally misaligned and look wonky!! plus i reckon its too wide and fat to be the z model.... talk about putting on weight if it is the real thing....

by asif | December 5, 2008 4:09 PM
nice design+luxury+power(engines)= B M W ;-)

by giga_games | December 5, 2008 4:39 PM
Certainly looks much much better than the outgoing generation. The rear is definitely better looking and harmonious than the from end.

by car-o-bar | December 5, 2008 5:02 PM
booya. bmw is back. welcome back bmw.

by need4speed | December 5, 2008 6:30 PM
Nurchus, your crack me up. BMW enjoys the market that it does today because of Bangle. He made a radical design appeal to the masses. He totally changed the game in car design. Why else do you think he is still on as design head at BMW. I'll admit i didn't like the 5 series when it first came out, but that sucker grew on me. Bangle gets my respect...

by iconic | December 5, 2008 8:21 PM
Don't waste your time with these BMW haters, it's just a form of snobbery to hate the new BMW's while pretending that you loved the old ones... however, the new Z4 looks definitely better than the current one. Oh, and I agree with you on the 5 series. Out of the "Bangle bunch", the 5 series is the best in terms of design, if you ask me...

by ovyd | December 5, 2008 10:29 PM
i'd think it fair to say that bangle has pulled off a very nice trick with his design - he revolutionises the look of them, which thereby gives them better standing in the market. this then wrong-foots their main competitor, MB, because suddenly the old mercs look a little boring when sat beside the radical bimmers. so to fix the situation, merc has to put the radical touch on their own design, but since bmw got there first, it's very hard for merc to find a way to make their cars just as radical. they gave it a damned good shot, of course - being perhaps the most respected marque in the automotive market, they had to - but in my opinion, this new generation of mercs isn't quite radical enough. so bangle, for all the bangle-haters try and put him down, knocks out bmw's main competitor. (for now, at least)

by Lucifa | December 6, 2008 4:20 AM
Meh... it's alright. It looks a bit unreal... I wish they would make a real coupe though...

by wjaprep | December 5, 2008 11:19 PM
The back view looks good....I am not so sure about the front though

by The_woo_factor | December 6, 2008 12:07 AM
nurchus, i really would like to see where you get your information from. first of all, i'm quite certain that a 2007 328i doesn't exist; the model's petrol range goes: 318i, 320i, 325i, 330i, 335i. so, let's assume you meant 325i - and we'll make it Ci. e46 328Ci: 0-100kmph in 6.6 seconds. e90 325Ci: 0-100kmph in 6.6 seconds. slower? right. and you have to disable the stability control to get home safely in the rain? ok, i don't know your driving style, but i've never had that problem, and i'm sure very few people have had accidents caused by the stability control, as opposed to dangerous driving. i agree wholeheartedly with TSLi, did a bmw run over your dog or something?

by Lucifa | December 6, 2008 4:13 AM
only have to say that except from the z4, all "new" BMWs interiors are shit. The central consoles seem more for luxury cars, not as sporty as BMW should look like. And about Bangle's design.. . 3 series: ugly rear, these nerves on the sides... the nerves of the restyling on the front lid (?¿) Although, the m3 is one of the most beautiful cars today 5 series: ugly front, those headlights... z4: i can't be used to that edges on the sides (in the place of intermitent lights), and the front spoiler could be much better, but i think that the line is nice. And the lights on the back... i don't understand why they've changed the circular ones, specially if the "box" they're in is circular. X3: everything is ugly in this car.

I like the X5 and X6 exterior, though. The 6 series bored me but i used to like it.

[Hope you understand my bad english, i did't know how to express some terms.]

by gur | December 6, 2008 1:59 PM
while i disagree with you about the "new bmw's"/"bangle-bimmers" on the exterior - i prefer the look of them - i do have to agree with you on the interior design. not the quality, but just the difference in design between say the e46 and e90 3 series. the e46 had a superb interior design philosiphy, with the whole dashboard angled toward the driver, yet the e90 had the dashboard as straight and boring. i think they're going back to the angled ones, though?

by Lucifa | December 6, 2008 2:19 PM
Yo this looks sick.. very promising as reported. I hope Chris Bangle doesnt screw it up!

by donwhyte | December 7, 2008 5:51 AM
now that's what i call a BMW Z4, a real beauty, can't wait to see the real deal and get one if it looks that good with the beautiful lines

by khlbt | December 8, 2008 2:50 PM
Pre/post Bangle BMW's usually look better from rear 3/4 than front, eventhough this applies to most manufacturers to a lesser degree

by ck314 | December 8, 2008 8:54 PM
Looks like they just grafted a 6-series back-end onto it. Although this may infuse it with some brand lineage. Hope the interior quality is there. Not sure it's what i'd call a "head-turner".
