Press Release

Germany's best-selling car in the segment
The BMW 7 Series reached the top of the upper class in Germany in 2004. With a total of 7,671 registrations, the BMW 7 Series is the market leader in the large saloons segment.

Ludwig Willisch, head of the Germany Region in the BMW Group, comments: "The BMW 7 Series played a major part in our achieving a new sales record in Germany in 2004. We are consequently very satisfied with the way the model series is developing."

The total volume sales achieved by the BMW Group in Germany developed very successfully last year. Never before have so many BMW and MINI automobiles been sold in Germany as in 2004. In total, 283,559 automobiles were sold, compared with 255,809 in the previous year (+10.8 percent).

With 256,117 units, the BMW brand set a new sales record. This is 26,028 more cars (+ 11.3 percent) than in the previous year. The BMW 5 Series and the BMW X5 in particular recorded clear increases. The BMW 3 Series exceeded all expectations in the last complete year before the launch of its successor. In addition to the well-established model series, the new models - the BMW 1 Series, the X3 and the BMW 6 Series - also contributed.

MINI also set new records in 2004. Sales of 27,442 units meant that 6.7 percent more MINI were delivered to customers than in 2003 (25,720 units).
